Pintrest Tuesday – Toy Jail

Welcome to Pintrest Tuesday!!
 

Recently I've been obsessed with keeping the house clean. I cant seem to sleep if the house is dirty when I go to bed.
 

The mess breaks down like this:
50% Landon
40% Leia
10% Nick

 

Picking up after Hurricane Leia is a full time job on its own, adding Landon to it and I was going crazy!!

I saw something on Pintrest awhile ago but never pinned it. (Bad me!)

It went some thing like this. Kids left their toys out, mom put the toys in "jail", kids did a chore to get the toy out.

So I put it in play.

Every night at around 7:30pm Landon has 15 minutes to pick up all the junk he's gotten out during the day. (In the past picking up ment he would just throw it in his room or play hide and shove! Which usually meant one shoe in the closet and the other shoved in a drawer or toy bin some where. So toy jail includes his room and everything has to be put in the right place.) Anything left out after 15 minutes goes to toy jail.
 

 

Landon has to pull a chore from the jar to get his toy back.
  
 
 

On Sunday at 5pm anything still in jail gets donated to Goodwill!
 

It has been a beautiful thing!! Landon enjoys it (for some reason) and I have a clean house!!! So far only 3 toys have gone to jail. He did his chores to get them back.
 

Every one is happy!!

Pintrest Tuesday – Father’s Day

I used my cricut for the lettering and Landon found the mustache stickers at Walmart.

 

I love the jars! I think they are adorable!

 

Although as I was working on these I realized and don’t do anything for the Moms and Grandmas for Mother’s Day! Nick reminded me it was because I make stuff for him and not myself. I guess I’ll have to get better about that next year. YICKES! Sorry Moms and Grandmas!

Pintrest Tuesday- A Summer Plan

Welcome to Pintrest Tuesday

The first week Landon was here for the summer was filled with watching TV.  The car happened to break the day before he go here so we weren’t going any where. There is only so much Power Rangers and Woody Woodpecker I can take.

I needed a plan for the summer!!

Make your summer at home with kids count 

So I thought I’d give it a try.

I made my strips of activities

and the extras

made a daily chore chart

and one for money (when the daily ones are done first!)

I planned some field trips and activities for him and we started last week.

It is going pretty good so far. He gets excited to see the plan for the day and loves to go to the next activity.

His favorite is Room Time. Go figure.

I try to plan the quiet times during Leia’s nap time so I can get some quiet time, scrapbooking, crafting, or me time in.

Yesterday I was feeling lazy and we basically had a free day (bad step-mommy).

He likes it and Power Rangers is not constantly on so I’m happy too!

Pintrest Tuesday –Name Fun

Welcome to Pintrest Tuesday!!
**update** I added pictures of the finished

 

A few years ago Nick bought some cardboard letters for Landon’s room; I’m just now getting around to utilizing them… (bad Step-Mommy).

 

I came across this pin a while ago

 

I thought it was super cute and EASY!

basically you take the naked cardboard letters and glue them together vertically.

I working on getting Landon a skateboard themed room so I painted the letters red to match the fabric

 

I have

that will someday be a pillow or something…

 

I also love this pin…

I love the pop of color and the stripe along the wall.

 

After I painted the letters I decided to hang them on the wall instead of stacking them. I figured I can always take them off the wall and stack them, but I can’t do the other way around without ruining the letters.

 

Here are the letters all painted.

 My car died this weekend so I haven’t been able to get to the store for the command strips I need to hang them.

 

I’ll put date this post when it’s totally done.

Pintrest Tuesday –Privacy Window

Welcome to Pintrest Tuesday

 

I LOVED this idea from the first time I saw it!

 

We have two small windows that flank either side of our front door.

They are too small for standard blinds, and curtains just seem weird here.

 

I needed a way to add some privacy but still let the light in..

I couldn't wait to do this in this house.

I even bought the supplies before we even owned the house.

This is a really good tutorial and has the stencil too. I reduced the stencil to 75% because of my window size. She has some really good tips on her site also.

 

I was only able to do one side so far. I need to cut out some more and finish it up.

 

 

The window is a little difficult to get a good picture.

 

My only tip is to make sure you are precise on your cutting.

If you’re a little off aligning them can get tricky.

 

Bella and Leia love to look out the windows and this obstructs their views so they are not so happy about it, but I love it.

 

Now on to the other side!

Pintrest Tuesday –Flippy Floppy Organization

Welcome back to Pintrest Tuesday

 

I’ve been wanting to do this next project for a long time. As you can see I have a LOT of shoes

and flipflops.

My secret goal is to own every color Old Navy offers ;D

Usually they sit in a tub and when I want to wear a pair I spend 10 minutes looking for matching colors..

 

So, here is my solution and pin

 I didn’t have any wire hangers (Mommy Dearest flash backs!!)

and I’m too impatient to add another bar right now. So here is my version…

 

 

 

I’m happy! My flip flops are happy!

And Nick is happy they are no longer scattered on the closet floor.

Pintrest Tuesday –Table Repair

Sorry for the delay. I was having technical difficulties -my pictures were not uploading...

 

Welcome to Pintrest Tuesday!!

 

This week I repaired our kitchen table.

 

A few months ago I placed a hot bowl on the table and it "burned" the table

 

 

I remember seeing something on Pintrest that would fix/remove it.

Here is the pin I found.

So.. I tried it

 

and it didn’t work. I guess not all the pins on Pintrest are helpful.

So I tried another one…

This blog called for Mayo. We didn’t have any mayo in the house. We HATE mayo.

The blog mentioned that the oil works it’s way into the table…

So I tried Coconut Oil

I left it on for a couple hours..

And it worked like a charm!!

It even looks shiny and pretty. I love it.

Pintrest Tuesday- Monogram Bling

Welcome back to Pintrest Tuesday!!

 

This week we have Monogram L! From my Leia's Room board.

I saw this pin while browsing Pintrest and I knew it was perfect for Leia's room.

I want to do a groupings of L's both for Leia and Landon's room.

Something like this...

 

You may (or not) remember my veil dilemma and I ultimately decided to make my veil, well I had some beads left over and I thought it would be perfect. I already had the beads, they were pretty and Leia could have something from my wedding in her room!

 

This pin doesn't have a tutorial and basically goes nowhere. But it's pretty self explanatory... buy the letter, paint it, glue beads on, done. I had all the supplies so this project cost me nothing but time to find all the stuff.

 

 

I painted my letter (from Hobby Lobby about $2 I think), make sure you paint were the beads will be too just in case. Then I took some E-6000 and very liberally put it where I wanted my beads. (Tips: do this in a well ventilated area -this stuff is stinky! Also do small sections at a time -it will dry fast and your beads won't stick).

Then just let it dry!

 

And here it is!!

I like this so much I'm thinking about doing a "H" for the house. I still have some beads left over (I swear these beads are never ending). When I get the rest of the letters done I'll show it off.

Pintrest Tuesday

Welcome back to Pintrest Tuesday!!

 

Today we have Baby Legs!! The first pair of Baby Legs I bought WAY before Leia was born. I LOVED them! Basically they are leg warmers for babies. They are very hard to find here in Arizona. I mean what baby needs to keep their legs warm in the hottest state in the country?! But I thought they were adorable and pink argyle! Clearly I don't use them to keep her legs warm but they are excellent for protecting her knees when she is crawling around on the floor. I don't remember what I paid for them but I'm guessing about $4-5 a pair!

 

Anyway, Leia is almost always wearing Baby Legs so I had to find a cheaper and DIY way to get her more Baby Legs.

Viola!!!

They are made from knee high girls socks! And about $2.50 a pair! Yeah buddy! Target has a ton of really cute styles and colors. I also made a pair of green and blue argyle ones too (not pictured).

The tops are not really my favorite I'm sure I can figure out a better method but for now I love them! And they do their job which is to protect my kid's knees...
